Sebiha Demir is a contemporary artist based in the Netherlands. She graduated from AKI ArtEZ Academy of Art & Design in 2004 and has since developed a sculptural practice centered on transformation, materiality, and tension.

 

She creates sculptures from reclaimed and recycled materials, including spent bullet casings, transforming traces of conflict into forms of resilience, protection, and renewal.

 

Her work operates at the intersection of human nature and the wild, continually seeking a balance between vulnerability and protection. Inspired by wildlife, the fragility of ecosystems, and the resilience of human connection, she develops refined sculptural forms that carry a subtle contrast between visual softness and the hardness of the material.

 

Demir invites the viewer to reflect on what we value, protect, and preserve, and on the potential for transformation inherent in every material.
